Our Mentoring Program is meant to foster a professional relationship between students and alumni. Career Services pairs current students with an alumnus who has graduated from Bristol and is now working in their field of study. This program serves as a learning experience for students and alumni, so that mentees can ask questions about their future working environments, and they can learn about the industry/path that they hope to pursue. It's also a great way for alumni to stay connected to Bristol Community College.

This is not meant as a job placement relationship, and students should not ask for nor expect an interview or job offer with the mentor’s employer. This is also not an internship – mentors should not ask, and students should not be expected to perform any work as part of this relationship.

Mentors and mentees are expected to meet 3 to 4 times per semester, though more meetings would be fine. Meetings may be held virtually or in person. If meeting in person, choose a public location, such as the Bristol campus. Meetings should last 45 minutes to 1 hour. We ask that students respect the mentor’s time.

Mentors and mentees are committing to this pairing for one semester. Mentees and mentors may mutually choose to stay in touch beyond this. Mentees are expected to initiate outreach for meetings. We will provide the mentor’s contact information to students, but not vice-versa. This protects the student’s privacy and gives the students control over how much of their information is shared. Mentees are expected to respond to mentor’s communication in a timely manner, 1-2 days at most.
