The goal of the Institutional Review Board is to uphold the principles of The Belmont Report and other established guidelines and ensure the rights, welfare, and privacy of individuals involved in research.

The Institutional Review Board consists of members who are qualified through their experience and expertise to review specific research activities and determine the acceptability of such proposed research. Review Board members comprise a diverse group of individuals in terms of race, gender, cultural background, and sensitivity to the rights and welfare of human subjects. The board must include representation from the scientific area as well as the non-scientific area, and must also include at least one member who is not otherwise affiliated with the college.

The Institutional Review Board meets regularly to review plans for research by members of the institution and those associated with the College who are conducting human subject research. Institutional Review Board meetings will be held on the following days during this academic year:

Bristol IRB applications can be completed electronically via Dynamic Forms. These forms are initiated by the Principal Investigator and use our HR and ITS systems to manage who reports to whom at Bristol for the signature routing process.
