2023 President's Report
Bristol Community College is deeply woven into the tapestry of our community.
It has been an exciting year at Bristol Community College filled with great achievements
and vibrant endeavors. I am thrilled to share the incredible progress we have made,
all centered around the pillars of our Strategic Plan. At the heart of our work lies
a commitment to student success, innovation and community. Our upcoming New England
Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) accreditation stands as a testament to our
dedication to academic excellence and continuous improvement.
One standout milestone this past year has been the establishment of the National Offshore Wind Institute (NOWI). This pioneering venture meets the ever-changing needs of the region’s top emerging industry, promoting economic growth and positioning our college at the forefront of innovation.
Our commitment to accessibility and inclusivity is unwavering. We have seen a surge in enrollment, a testament to our efforts to make higher education accessible and a result of the launch of MassReconnect. Providing free community college for individuals 25 and older is a game-changer for Bristol County, creating a college-going culture and empowering our students to reach higher.
Bristol Community College is deeply woven into the tapestry of our community. From unique partnerships with local restaurants showcased in the “Bristol Community Cooking” show to providing free dental services through our on-site Dental Hygiene Clinic, our impact extends far beyond our classrooms. Our alumni’s success stories in different regional sectors reflect our positive influence on the communities we serve.
Our global outreach initiatives, including welcoming international students and supporting our veterans, exemplify our dedication to diversity and inclusivity. Initiatives like the Wolfson Speaker Series serve as platforms for fostering intellectual discourse, dialogue and community engagement.
Bristol’s partnerships, organizational excellence, unique innovations and focus on student success purposefully intertwine to shape the future of our college. As I prepare to retire in January 2025 and entrust our college to a new leader, I am confident that the college will continue to flourish. Bristol will always be the tapestry that binds our community together.
