Bristol Community College is collaborating with Southeast MA legal partner organizations to bring information and technical support to students, their families, and the community on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) immigration policy. Created in 2012 by President Obama, the policy had called for deferred action for certain undocumented young people who came to the U.S. as children but was rescinded/phased out under President Trump. With the Supreme Court’s June 2020 ruling that the program was unlawfully ended, the DACA policy has been restored in full. As the Biden administration works with the House to pass a pathway to citizenship for DACA individuals, Bristol continues to plan to bring the most current information and resources to those impacted by the policy.

Building on the format and resources of Bristol’s Social Justice forums, Ask a Lawyer program, and other related work underway in our partner organizations, we expect to respond to the policy’s renewed implementation with a robust, broad, yet personalized, community-based approach, including sessions where constituents can get help completing the DACA application.

Visit this page periodically for updated information and resources on DACA, as they become available.
