Bristol Community College recently welcomed more than 200 community members to the 26th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Community Breakfast on Monday, January 19. The event featured a keynote presentation from Dr. Sean Edmund
Rogers, Dean of the University of Rhode Island College of Business; remarks by U.S.
Congressman Jake Auchincloss; the awarding of the MLK, Jr. Essay Contest winners;
musical selections and resource tables hosted by community organizations.
To honor Dr. King’s historic March on Washington, the college sponsors an annual essay competition inviting Bristol’s students to write about the meaning of Dr. King’s dreams and ideals. This year's winners included Geraldine Fequiere, Third Place; James Mesalon; Second Place and Jessica Fidalgo, First Place. The event also included the unveiling of a portrait of Captain

African American to complete Navy flight training.
