Bristol Community College will celebrate Native American Heritage Month with a special screening of the short film CUFFE: TAXED on Thursday, November 12, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Margaret L. Jackson Arts Center (H building) on Bristol's Fall River Campus, 777 Elsbree Street. The event is free and open to all.

Based on a true story, CUFFE: TAXED introduces audiences to a young Paul Cuffe, a Black and Wampanoag mariner who would become one of the most influential Black men in America and a politically powerful activist. In 1778, with Nantucket cut off by a British blockade and desperately short of food, 19-year-old Paul Cuffe and his brother-in-law, Michael Wainer, take to the water with a load of much-needed provisions.

Sponsored by BayCoast Bank, the event will also feature the award-winning music video Paul Cuffe Is Me, a panel discussion with filmmakers, performers and historians exploring Cuffe's legacy and why his story still matters today, and a reception with refreshments.

Registration is recommended. To register for the event or for more information, please visit www.bristolcc.edu/about/thebristolcommunitycollegefoundation/events/
