Bristol Community College Faculty Member Robyn Worthington awarded Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty Award by the American Association of Community Colleges
Bristol Community College Faculty Member Robyn Worthington is a recipient of a 2022 Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty Award from the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). The prestigious award will be presented on Sunday, May 1, 2022. The Dale P. Parnell Faculty Award distinguishes faculty who not only exemplify excellence in an academic setting but who also work outside the classroom to help their students achieve success. Since the program began in 2018, AACC has recognized 185 faculty members from across the United States.
Robyn Worthington, M.A., is the Department Chair of History, Government, and Economics. She has taught courses in U.S. History, including American Women’s History and American Indian History. In addition to her work in the classroom, Robyn has served as a member of the College Governance Council, the College-Wide Curriculum Committee, the Holocaust and Genocide Center Advisory Board, and is an Equity Fellow for the LASH Center for Teaching and Learning.
Robyn holds an associate degree in liberal arts from Bristol Community College, a bachelor's degree in history from Wellesley College and a master's degree in history from the University of Connecticut.
She is the past recipient of The Ralph H. Bollard Prize for Distinction in American History from Wellesley College and the Mace and Shield Award from Bristol Community College, and she serves as Secretary for the Bristol Chapter of MCCC.
The criteria for the prestigious Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty Award include demonstrating a passion for students in the classroom, willingness to support students inside and outside of the classroom, participation in college committees, and going above and beyond to ensure that students are successful in their academic endeavors. The recognition is named for former AACC President Dale P. Parnell, who was instrumental in establishing many of the foundational concepts for today’s community colleges.
