President of Bristol Community College

Sedgwick L. Harris, Ed.D., took office on March 3, 2025, as president of Bristol Community College, becoming the fifth president in the college’s 60-year history.

Dr. Harris is a proud community college graduate who is recognized for his commitment to student success, innovative program development and workforce readiness. A passionate advocate for student-centered learning with more than 25 years of experience in higher education administration, Dr. Harris is focused on ensuring that students at all stages of their academic journey receive the support they need to thrive. His expertise spans across strategic, data-driven planning, program design and decision-making that fosters student access and achievement.

Dr. Harris succeeded President Laura L. Douglas, Ph.D. (2017-2025). Dr. Douglas followed John J. Sbrega, Ph.D. (2000-2017), Eileen T. Farley (1978-2000) and Jack P. Hudnall (1965-1978), the college’s founding president.
