Advising

All new and returning students to Bristol will receive an assigned advisor prior to registration. After applying to the college, satisfying placement requirements, and completing the mandatory new student orientation, students will receive their assigned academic advisor.

Did you attend the Online Orientation? If so, you’ll receive your assigned advisor and details on how to schedule your first appointment via email. If you plan to attend the in-person orientation, you’ll receive your assigned advisor at the event. Visit Bristol’s New Student Orientation webpage to learn more about Orientation.

New Students must schedule an appointment with their assigned advisor to register for their first semester classes. 

All new and returning students to Bristol for the Summer 24 semester should utilize drop-in services with any advisor to register for their first semester classes. To learn more about our drop-in hours, see below. 

After the summer semester begins, you’ll receive your advisor assignment via e-mail. Until then, feel encouraged to return to our drop-in hours for ongoing support. 

Current students should plan to make appointments in advance to meet with their assigned academic advisor.* Research has shown that community college students who have consistent, long-term connections with their advisors are more likely to stay enrolled, earn higher GPAs, and graduate on time. 

If your advisor works in Advising & Success, they have shared a link with you via email to make appointments with them. If your advisor is a faculty member, you will need to email them to set up an appointment.

*We know that there are exceptions to every rule – and we want your advising experience to be awesome. If your faculty advisor is not available or if you have an immediate need and your advisor is unavailable, consider joining us for drop-ins (see FAQ for more information).

Advising Appointments are the best method for meeting with your assigned professional advisor!  You have received an email from them already with the link to book an appointment. If you cannot locate the link, please email them directly.

1. Log into your accessBCC account.
2. Click on Degree Works.
3. Find your Primary Advisor's name at the top of your degree audit.
4. Enter your advisor's name in the College Directory.

Drop-in hours are available daily at the Fall-River Campus from 9am-3:30pm. At the Attleboro, Taunton, and New Bedford Campuses, drop-in services are offered one day a week. Please see the drop-in schedule below for exact hours.

While drop-in advising is available for immediate advising needs, meeting with an assigned advisor each time ensures personalized guidance on your college path.  It's recommended to meet with your advisor at least three times per semester to stay on track and make the most of your college experience. 

Students are required to connect with their primary advisor. Drop-in Advising is currently available for students who meet any of the below criteria:

• Have no primary advisor assigned.
• Have a time sensitive matter, such as withdrawing from a course before the withdrawal deadline.
• Have a faculty advisor who is off contract and unavailable during school breaks.
