Financial Aid Programs

Federal Pell Grant
The Pell Grant is need-based aid.  These funds are authorized by the U. S. Department of Education and awarded by the College. 

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
The FSEOG is need-based aid.  These funds are authorized by the U. S. Department of Education and awarded by the College

Federal Teach Grant
This grant is available to students who meet specific criteria which includes agreeing to serve as a full-time teacher in a high-need field serving low-income students.  An important distinction with this program is that this grant will change to a Direct Unsubsidized Loan if the student fails to meet the terms of the agreement.  That means that the student will need to repay these funds, with interest, if the terms of the agreement are not satisfied.  These funds are authorized by the U. S. Department of Education and awarded by the College.

MassGrant
The MassGrant is a need-based grant for full time students.  These funds are awarded by the Massachusetts Department of Education Office of Student Financial Assistance.

Massachusetts Tuition Waiver
This need-based waiver is authorized by the Massachusetts Department of Education and awarded by the College. This waiver is restricted to state-supported classes.  These classes have a section number that begins with "A" and a billing code of TUI1.

Massachusetts Furcolo Grant
This is a need-based cash grant program authorized by the Massachusetts Department of Education and awarded by the College.

Massachusetts Part Time Grant
This is a need-based grant authorized by the Massachusetts Department of Education and awarded by the College to students enrolled part time (six to eleven credits)

Massachusetts Paraprofessional Teacher Prep Grant

This grant is awarded by the Massachusetts Department of Education Office of Student Financial Assistance.

Rhode Island State Grant
This is a need-based grant awarded by the Rhode Island Higher Education Assistance Authority.

 

Rhode Island Academic Promise Scholarship
This need-based scholarship is awarded by the Rhode Island Higher Education Assistance Authority.

BCC Presidential Scholarship
This is a merit scholarship for high-achieving students entering from high school.  Students can apply through their high school guidance office or contact Eileen Shea, Director of Transfer Affairs at    Eileen.Shea@bristolcc.edu    This scholarship is for one-year only and recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA to receive the second semester payment.  Application deadline is in May.

Federal Student Loans
BCC participates in Federal Direct Loans.  These are loans funds and must be repaid.  This includes Stafford Subsidized, Stafford Unsubsidized, and Parent loans (PLUS).  Students/parents interested in loan opportunities should begin the application process with the school, not the lender.

Student Employment
Part-time job opportunities are available through the Federal Work Study (FWS) and Student Employment (SEP) Programs.  FWS is authorized by the U. S. Department of Education and awarded by the College.  SEP is funded and awarded by the College.  Students participating in the program normally work 8 – 10 hours per week and the work schedule is designed to meet the needs of the student and supervisor.  Positions are available at the three campus locations and off campus community service agencies.  This is an employment program and funds are earned as wages; the wages are not applied to tuition and fee charges.

BCC Foundation Scholarship
The BCC Foundation and Alumni Association fund scholarships for students.  The online application is available here. These funds are awarded by the BCC Foundation and the Foundation will notify recipients during the summer.
