Preparations are Underway!
As we plan for our annual commencement celebration, the following information should be helpful to you.
Bristol’s 2022 Commencement Ceremony will be held, rain or shine, on the Bristol Fall River Campus, 777 Elsbree Street, under the solar canopies on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 11 a.m. All ceremony participants should arrive on campus at 9:15 a.m. and check-in at the Jackson Arts Center (H building).

Instructions for Graduates
Graduates: please note that you must check in between 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. on Commencement day. Additional instructions were outlined in the Graduation Information memo that was distributed when graduates picked up their caps and gowns at the Bristol Bookstore. Cap and Gown
Between April 19 and May 18, You may pick up your cap, gown, and a Graduation Information memo at the College Bookstore, located in C building on the Fall River campus. All items must be picked up before Wednesday, May 18 at 2 p.m. Please visit the Bookstore website for hours of operation.
As this is an outdoor event, the college will not be requiring proof of vaccination or masks at this time. However, masks are required indoors. Please wear your mask when going indoors anywhere on campus. It is important to note that mask requirements may change based on the track of the COVID-19 virus in our community. Please check the commencement web page frequently and be sure to keep your guests informed.
Graduates and their guests are encouraged to park at Bishop Connolly High School, as well as parking lots 1-7 on the Bristol campus. Handicapped parking will also be available in parking lots 8 & 9 on the Bristol campus. Please follow posted signage. Shuttle buses and golf carts will be provided for transport.
Please ask your guests to leave large bags and lawn chairs at home. All bags brought to the event are subject to inspection.
Please make note of the following items that will not be allowed at the Commencement ceremony:
- No Balloons or banners (signs)
- No oversized handbags
- No smoking on campus, including vaping or electronic smoking devices
- No alcoholic beverages
- Service animals only
- No Noise makers or air horns
- No pepper spray/OC/ Mace
- No weapons of any kind, including pocketknives and box cutters
- No vaping or electronic smoking devices
Please plan accordingly for adverse weather conditions. You might also want to bring an umbrella if rain is in the forecast.
Seating for guests is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests are asked to go directly to the tent to be seated. Please follow the instructions of the ushers.
American Sign Language interpreters and streamed captioning will be provided at the commencement ceremony. All graduates access the commencement stage by a wheelchair-accessible ramp. To request specialized seating or other access accommodations for you or your guests, please contact the Office of Disability Services by calling 774.357.2955, by May 19, 2022 to discuss the details of this accommodation.
You will receive a diploma cover during the commencement ceremony. Your official degrees and/or certificates will be mailed to the address that you have provided on your graduation application and should be received approximately one month following the ceremony. If you are a December 2021 graduate, you should have already received your diploma.
It is important to note that once your degree is awarded, your enrollment status becomes noted as Non-Degree. If you continue to take classes at Bristol, you must re-apply to the college and declare a new major, particularly if you receive financial aid assistance, as non-degree students are not eligible for financial aid.
In order to help you in planning the best way to capture commencement memories in photographs, please be aware of the following:
GradImagesTM is the official commencement photographer. An individual photograph of each graduate will be taken. A proof of the photograph will be emailed to you along with information on ordering copies and enlargements. You may view your photos on their website at gradimages.com.
President Douglas will be available for photographs during the reception after the ceremony. Please provide your own camera.
Commencement Program Listing
Your name will not appear in the Commencement program or in local newspapers if you have a privacy/confidential hold placed on your record. However, your name will still be announced during the Commencement proceedings.
If you currently do have a privacy/confidential hold on your record, but do want to be listed on the program and in newspapers, please contact the Records Office at RecordsOffice@BristolCC.edu by Friday, May 3.
Honors designations in the Commencement program are based on your total GPA at the end of the Spring 2022 semester.
The Commencement Ceremony will be simulcast by Fall River Community Television. Fall River Cable subscribers can watch the ceremony live on Channel 95 beginning at 11 a.m. The ceremony will be rebroadcast frequently during the month of June; exact times will be posted on Channel 95. The ceremony will also be streamed live online at FRMedia.org and on Bristol’s Facebook page.

Come to commencement... Stay for the party!
Join Bristol in celebrating our grads at the Lawn Party, starting right after Commencement on May 21. Stay for live local music, family-fun activities, and lots of opportunities for photos.
