Weekly Walk-in Hours & Workshops

If you plan to attend BCC, help with the financial aid process is available through walk-in workshops and evening workshops. The workshops will assist you with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and then submitting the form online with assistance from financial aid staff.

Below, you’ll find tools and information that will help you through the financial aid process. Also check out our Need to Know Info page for information regarding deadlines, re-application, special circumstances, and tax return information.

Financial Aid Workshops

Financial Aid, in conjunction with the Educational Opportunity Center, hosts a series of workshops to help students who are planning to attend BCC complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). At these workshops, you will receive guidance on gathering the information needed and with completing the FAFSA online

Walk-in Workshops

  • Fall River Campus: every Friday; arrive anytime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Room K205
  • New Bedford Campus: every Tuesday; arrive for the start of the session 3 p.m. at the Union Street Building, Room NS 168
  • Attleboro Campus: every Tuesday; arrive anytime between 9 and 12 noon. Room 143

Information You Should Bring:

  • Your (the student) information
  • If you are a dependent student, your parent information
  • If you are married, your spouse information

Parent information is not needed if:

  • You are married
  • You are a veteran or serving in the armed services
  • Both your parents are deceased
  • You have a child and you provide more than 50% of their support
  • You are in foster care or have been a ward of the court at any time since you turned age 13
  • You are in the custody of a legally-appointed guardian
  • You have dependents other than a child and provide more than 50% of their support
  • You are a legally emancipated minor (must have court documents)
  • For enrollment beginning Fall 2015, you were born before January 1, 1992
  • For enrollment beginning Fall 2016, you were born before January 1, 1993

Tax and Income Information

2014 income information is needed to complete forms for Fall 2015, Spring 2016, Summer 2016 enrollment
2015 income information is needed to complete forms for Fall 2016, Spring 2017, Summer 2017 enrollment

  • W-2 Forms (student, parent, spouse)
  • Signed and filed federal tax return Form 1040 (student, parent, spouse)
  • Verification of any other income received – Unemployment, SSI, SSDI, TANF, etc.  (student, parent, spouse)
  • Current savings and checking account amounts (student, parent, spouse)
  • Asset information (student, parent, spouse)
  • FSA ID - this is your username and password that you create at www.fafsa.ed.gov. It is how you will electronically sign the FAFSA, and how you will access all Federal Student Aid websites. 
  • Please Note: If you are a dependent applicant, your parent will also need his/her own FSA ID.
