If you are a new student, your first step is to take the Accuplacer Placement Test. After completing the test, advisors help interpret your placement scores. They will work with you to decide which BCC program of study best fits your goals, plan your semester schedule, and register for the appropriate courses.
All students are required to take the Reading Comprehension, Arithmetic, Elementary Algebra and the Written Essay tests unless they have appropriate transfer credit or previous test scores. Based on the results of these assessment tests, advisors place you into appropriate courses. For more information visit the Testing page.
If you have gained knowledge through training, work experience, volunteer opportunities, Massive Online Open courses (MOOCs) or other non-academic activities prior to enrolling at BCC, consider Prior Learning Assessment.
Course requirements for programs and certificates as well as course descriptions are listed in the Academic Catalog.
PLA (Prior Learning Assessment)
Through a process called Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), students can demonstrate knowledge that they have gained through training, work experience, volunteer opportunities, MOOCs or other non-academic activities prior to enrolling at BCC. To learn more about PLA, click here.
