Massachusetts Order on Flu
The Department of Public Health has issued an Executive Order to exclude any person who is "a suspect, probable or confirmed case of Influenza A H1N1" for at least 24 hours after s/he is fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medications. This is the same advisory contained in the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.
The DPH Order requires exclusion, not only in confirmed cases, but where H1N1 infection is suspected based on the symptoms presented. H1N1 symptoms generally include fever of greater than 100.4, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea.
