Apply to Graduate


Starting February 1, 2018, you are eligible to apply to graduate from BCC if you have completed 90% of your program. You can graduate at the end of the Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters. Commencement is held at the end of the Spring semester on the Fall River Campus.

You can apply by logging into your accessBCC account and click the link for "Apply to Graduate." Fill out the application, and you'll be on your way to Commencement.

To check on the status of your application, click the "View Application to Graduate Status" link in your accessBCC account.

Forms and Resources

Degrees/Certificates


You will receive a diploma cover during the commencement ceremony. Degrees and certificates will be mailed to the address you provided on your graduation application, and should be received within one month after the ceremony.

If you are a December graduate, you should have already received your diploma.

Disability Accommodations


If you and/or your guests need accommodations to access this program of events, please contact the BCC Office of Disability Services at 774.357.2955 in advance.

A wheelchair accessible ramp to the stage will be provided for graduates, and specialized seating for guests with disabilities is available on a limited basis with advanced notice. Please contact the BCC Office of Disability Services in advance to discuss the details of the accommodation.

Reserved seating for guests with disabilities (and one personal care attendant) is prioritized for those that have made arrangements with the college in advance. The college cannot guarantee reserved seating to accommodate guests with disabilities that have not called ahead. Once the ceremony begins, reserved seating will be released to other guests. Please arrive early and plan accordingly.

Cap and Gown


You may pick up your cap and gown and a Graduation Information memo at the bookstore on the Fall River campus, located in the Commonwealth College Center (G building). They will be available beginning May 1. All items must be picked up before Tuesday, May 29 at 5 p.m.

PHI THETA KAPPA HONOR STOLES

PTK Honors Stoles are worn by PTK members at graduation and distinguishes them as honor students and campus scholars.

PTK Stoles may be picked up April 24 through May 31 in the Commonwealth Center, room G-211, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and in G-200, Monday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Massachusetts Graduates and Insurance


Graduates who are Massachusetts residents may be required to apply for health insurance if they are no longer covered by the student health insurance or other coverage.

Commencement Program Listing


Your name will not appear in the Commencement program or in local newspapers if you have a privacy/confidential hold placed on your record. However, your name will still be announced during the Commencement proceedings.

If you currently do have a privacy/confidential hold on your record, but do want to be listed on the program and in newspapers, please contact the Records Office at RecordsOffice@BristolCC.edu.

Honors designations in the Commencement program are based on your total GPA at the end of the spring 2018 semester.

Additional Instructions

 

Please make note of the following which will not be allowed at the Commencement ceremony: 

  • Balloons, banners (signs), or large flags
  • Book bags/oversized bags not allowed (only handbags allowed and will be subjected to a search)
  • Service animals only (if any)
  • Noise makers or air horns
  • Weapons of any kind
  • Fireworks, sparklers, aerosol cans (i.e., silly string)
  • Coolers
  • Laser pointers


Campus Police reserves the right to prohibit other items deemed dangerous to the security of the event.

Smoking or alcoholic beverages are not allowed on campus. Bristol Community College is a tobacco-free campus. The use of tobacco is prohibited within college buildings, walkways, in college or state fleet vehicles, and on college owned property. 

Additional instructions will be outlined in the Graduation Information memo that graduates will receive when they pick up their cap and gowns at the bookstore.
