prez Hi Everyone! What is on your mind today?
prez Hi Dan, Is Everything going well for you?
dan My college life is going good.
dan I'm interested and seeing BCC one day get an observatory anbd radio telescope. Is there a process to get such things at BCC?
prez Yes, Dan, there is a process. We have budget requests (each request must be linked directly to a goal in our BCC Strategic Plan. Of course, the request such as yours would have to complement our curriculum needs. Also, aren't these very expensive?
dan They tend to be on the expensive side.
prez BUT--expensive or not, we have an obligation to at least try to arrange what our curriculums need for enhancing students' education.
dan I agree a lot. Thank you for letting us have this time to talk to you. I have to go now. Have a great day.
  prez Good luck to you.
prez apedro15: hello, what is on your mind???
  apedro15 Good morning!
apedro15 like most students/faculty/staff, I believe the most popular concern is parking.
craposa29 Hi Prez! My friend apedro told me to jump on.
craposa29 What a wonderful day to be on campus
craposa29 I don't worry about parking, i get here early.
craposa29 Looking forward to seeing the solar parking lots finished and generating power.
prez Yes, welcome to you both--good friends??? Parking continues to be a challenge for us, but the end is nearly in sight. The problem has been the solar canopy construction--not the building construction. The good news is that the solar canopies will soon be installed, and the original parking lots will open again. Pleawse be patient!
prez craposa29: you're right. It will save us 40% on electricity.
apedro15 Will other lots (3,4, and 5 also have the solar canopies?
craposa29 Noyce! I want to go off the grid at home, one day.
prez apedro: Not in the short term. We will eventually!
  craposa29 40% is a huge chunk.
apedro15 I believe that solar canopies it will benefit the campus a lot as well as the environment!
apedro15 What is the estimate due date fo the new builiding?
prez Yes, we are sustainability leaders.
craposa29 We will be fighting for those parking spaces when the snow starts flying.
prez Did you know we have solar panels on the top of "B" and "C" buildings???
  apedro15 I wasn't aware of that.
prez Estimated completion (move-in) date for the new building is Dec 2015-Jan 2016.
apedro15 I was present on the ground breaking day. We are the first to have a building that produces its own energy?
happygolucky My concern is the exit on to Elsbree Street from the lot in front of "K" building. Upon exiting the sign states not left turn so students form a single line of cars until they realize that you can turn left or right. There is an easy fix it think and that is to extent the white painted line in the p
prez apedro: Yes, we're the first in New England and one of the few in the nation (where most are in warm weather areas).
prez Happy: thank you. I think the confusion is no left turn onto the service road--not Elsbree Street. Thanks for the suggestion.
apedro15 any plans for a future parking garage as we get more students in campus?
prez apedro: Not yet. Parking is actually sufficient even in these difficult construction days--but just not always in convenient places.
apedro15 Parking hasn't been easy that's for sure and the trolleys helped a lot!
apedro15 Thank you Jack for all that you do for the BCC. It has been a pleasure chatting with you.
prez apedro: Thank you. Good Luck...and Cheers!
Lisa Lavoie Will parking on the opposite side of Elsbree Street end at some point?
prez Lisa: Good question. We had to ask the City for permission to park there during our limited construction. I think we may lose that privilege when we regain to original parking lots.
Lisa Lavoie Thank you President Sbrega. I am sure the parking issues will diminish over the next several weeks with some of the lots opening again.
  prez Lisa: Let's hope!!!
Lisa Lavoie It was nice to see how this
Lisa Lavoie "chat" with the President works. I think it is a great opportunity to discuss what's on our minds here at BCC.
  prez Thank you.
Lisa Lavoie Will there ever be an entrance/exit from BCC onto Langley Street, near the community garden? It seems that this area would be an ideal emergency exit, need be.
prez Langley Street is actually a controversial issue. The neighbors do not want BCC folks on their street.
Lisa Lavoie I understand. Thank you. Keeping in mind, the parking situation is temporary.
  prez apedro: still doing OK???
prez Any last thought from anyone???
prez Good-bye everyone. Thanks for joining our chat!!!
