Coach's Information
Joy Goncalves has been selected as head coach of the Bristol Bees women’s basketball team. With a history of athletic success, Joy brings her experience in basketball, both as an athlete and as a coach, to BCC for the women’s basketball team's first season in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
Joy has more than ten years of coaching experience ranging from high school to international levels. Besides basketball, she has coached field hockey, track and field and volleyball and has earned sportsmen’s awards, divisional titles, and tournament appearances. She coached in the Bay State Games for five years, where her teams won bronze and sportsmanship awards. Joy coached high school track and field athletes in Australia to compete in the Down Under Games, held in Queensland.
A graduate of Wareham High School, Joy was a four-year varsity player in field hockey, basketball, softball, and track and field. She went on to Cape Cod Community College where she played college basketball. She brings to BCC the professionalism and drive necessary for the success of the new women’s basketball program.
Joy lives in Onset with her husband of 28 years, her two sons, Henry and Nicholas, and grandson, DeVaughn.
