Publicity
College Communications works with college faculty and staff to publicize college activities and events to audiences on and off campus. College Communications employs an arsenal of tools to publicize events, including advising our regional media about the event (for coverage by local media sources), sending press releases to regional print and broadcast media, publishing details in FYI, and posting information on the electronic sign at the entrance of the BCC Fall River Campus.
Publicizing your event to the region
Send a press release
To request a press release or media coverage of an on-campus event, please complete the Press Release/Media Coverage form.
College Communications sends press releases to local and regional media on a regular basis. We have a healthy relationship with our local media and, generally, press releases are published on a timely basis. Media outlets do not charge to print press releases but they do run press releases at their discretion and may edit press releases due to space constraints.
Arrange for media coverage
College Communications works with local media outlets to arrange coverage of on-campus events. Coverage is solely at the discretion of the media organization and there is no sole factor that determines which event receives media coverage. Arranging coverage of a college event can sometimes be a complex matter since our local media outlets cover a wide area and diverse issues. If you are requesting coverage by media of an event, it is very important for College Communications to have advance notice and specific details about your event. Please let us know if the event has a strong visual element (i.e. rock climbing wall or electronic bull riding). These details will help in our effort to promote event coverage.
BCC Electronic Sign
Do you want to the campus to know about your activity? Place it on the BCC electronic sign.
To publicize an event or activity on the electronic sign, please send an email to Sally Cameron with the words Electronic Sign in the subject line or click here.
Please follow the guidelines below:
- Submit your request at least one week prior to the event
- Please include the name of the event, the date and time, and the location
- Space is limited. Keep your message as brief as possible
Please note: The College does not post personal messages or personal greetings on the sign.
BCC Spotlight
Let BCC's presence on the World Wide Web serve as your notice to the world through the BCC Spotlight. The BCC Spotlight is a scrolling electronic bulletin board of events and activities on campus. Send an email with details of your event for the spotlight bulletin board to College Communications.
FYI
FYI is an employee newsletter published weekly by College Communications during the fall and spring semesters. BCC faculty and staff are encouraged to send information about their on-campus events and professional and personal accomplishments for submission. The deadline for publication is Tuesday at 4 pm.
The most recent issue of FYI is available online.
To submit information for publication in FYI, send an email to college communications.
